This 2018 drama screenplay co-written by Bradley Cooper, is the fourth rendition of this classic tale. Like the versions before it, the story contains the same themes of triumph and tragedy following the rise and fall of a star singer.

E-Douwa is another website where you can access a wide selection of Japanese language storybooks. While there are many selections of classic Japanese tales, the genre on this website is not limited to Japanese traditional folktales. You can read storybooks from works such as The Grimm Fairytales, Greek Mythology, and traditional folktales from all over the world! My personal recommendation would be The Little Match Girl by Hans Christian Anderson!
Mangas are Japanese comic books that tell the story mainly through their images and the comment bubbles of their characters. By paying attention to the type of final sentence particles, pronouns, and vocabulary used by each character, you can grasp the unique speaking styles that vary between genders, social settings, and personalities. Moreover, the illustrations help you to keep moving ahead when Japanese words alone become too strenuous on the mind!

For those wanting to spend their flight tucked into a thought-provoking book, THE ALCHEMIST, although short, is a brilliant choice. Telling the magical story of a shepherd boy named Santiago as he yearns to travel in search of a world treasure, this book can teach us a thing or two about following our dreams, no matter what the cost (or the distance), and offers essential wisdom on listening to our hearts.
Grappling with race, identity politics, and the contemporary middle class, this collection of short stories is an excellent fast read. While some stories are darkly humorous, others are devastatingly poignant, having something everyone will love. In the title story, when a cosplayer, dressed as his favorite anime character, is mistaken for a violent threat, the consequences are dire. This book is a fearless take on the simmering tensions and precariousness of black citizenship.

The Pilgrim's Progress is a book by English writer and Puritan preacher John Bunyan, first published in 1678. A Christian allegory that tells the story of a man named Christian who sets out on a journey from the City of Destruction, aiming to reach the Celestial City, which represents heaven, via the Slough of Despond, Vanity Fair and Doubting Castle. Along the way, he faces various obstacles and temptations, and meets a variety of characters who help or hinder him on his journey. Using the metaphor of a journey to explore the Christian life and the struggles that believers face on their way to salvation, the book is notable for its vivid descriptions of the landscapes and characters that Christian encounters on his journey, as well as for its use of Christian symbolism and imagery. The book is considered a classic of Christian literature, that has been widely read and studied for over 300 years, and has been translated into many languages.

One early spring afternoon in 1982 I happened to find myself ambling along Fuzhou Road in Shanghai and coming by chance upon a small unattractive bookstore. The brown paint on its outer doors was peeling, the stucco surface of its exterior needed a good scrubbing, and more than a few tiles on its floor were broken. If then no different in appearance from the other bookstores I had earlier visited along this famous Shanghai book street, this store nonetheless boasted a strikingly different kind of stock: it specialized in selling second-hand Western books. While novels abounded on its shelves, the pre-war variety in hardback and the more recent in paperback, one thick non-fiction volume caught my eye. Entitled Domesday Book and Beyond, this classic 1887 treatment of early English history by the great English legal historian Frederic W. Maitland had long been on my reading list. Somehow a copy of it had ended up in this unpromising bookshop. When I opened the virtually virgin pages of this copy and noticed that it could be bought for a proverbial song, I readily leapt to the temptation and acquired it with delight. 1e1e36bf2d
